Ready to get back to the magic? Walt Disney World is ready to welcome guests back, and this fall is full of fun extra events and all-new enchantment to enjoy!
Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary
Walt Disney World, which originally opened with Magic Kingdom Park in October 1971, will celebrate its 50th anniversary beginning October 1 of this year! While this event will go far beyond this fall season throughout 2022, the celebration will kick off this fall. The celebration will include new attractions, fireworks spectaculars, and new magical details throughout the parks. Here are some of the highlights:
The celebration will include two new nighttime spectaculars at Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot! At Magic Kingdom Park, "Disney Enchantment" will take guests on a journey filled with adventure, wonder, and empowerment, featuring music, enhanced lighting, stunning fireworks, and immersive projection effects that extend from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A. At Epcot, "Harmonious" will bring the globe together at World Showcase Lagoon in a celebration of inspiring Disney music.
There will also be new entertainment for guests to enjoy during the day at Disney's Animal Kingdom, "Disney KiteTails", which will feature performers flying windcatchers and kites of al shapes and sizes out on the water of the Discovery River Amphitheater.
At all the theme parks, the World’s Most Magical Celebration will light up with wonder as the theme park icons are transformed into Beacons of Magic, beckoning all to come and celebrate. Plus, see if you find all the Fab 50! 50 Characters cast in gold will be displayed across all 4 theme parks—waiting to be discovered by you!
Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be the hosts for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” and they’ll be decked out in sparkling new EARidescent fashions for the 50th anniversary. Their best pals want to get in on the shimmer, too, as Donald Duck and Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto, and Chip ‘n’ Dale will be sporting their own custom-made EARidescent looks beginning Oct. 1. Guests will get a chance to see them when they travel through Magic Kingdom Park several times daily in the new “Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade.”
Epcot Food & Wine Festival
This summer, Guests can embark on a tasty tour across six continents at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival! This delicious celebration, which kicks off July 15 and runs through Nov. 20, features a full menu of new flavors and sips along with live entertainment, family activities and more. That’s 129 days of fun for the entire family!
Global Marketplaces will serve up a host of international flavors, including fan-favorite dishes from Hawai’i, Australia, Germany, Canada and Greece, as well as new spicy, savory and sweet plates to please Guests’ palate. We’ll have more details on specific menu items in an upcoming Foodie Guide, but there are new Global Marketplace concepts coming to Morocco, The American Adventure and throughout the park in July, with even more marketplaces opening in the fall.
Popular entertainment is back too, with performances by Voices of Liberty, Mariachi Cobre and Jammin’ Chefs. The festival will also open with America Gardens Bandstand presented by Florida Blue Medicare, a live-music concert series performed Friday through Monday evenings. Local bands from across Central Florida will take to the America Gardens Theatre stage, playing popular songs of yesterday and today.
For families, Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak will send kids of all ages on a savory scavenger hunt around the festival. Another way for families to have fun together is by participating in Emile’s Fromage Montage. Guests will find new ways to experience cheese when they purchase five participating dishes from select Global Marketplaces, including a passionfruit cheesecake with toasted macadamia nuts. Collect five stamps and scurry over to Shimmering Sips for a prize!
Remy's Ratatouille Adventure Opens October 1
On October 1, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure will open to guests at Epcot! Bring the whole family to zip, dash and scurry through Gusteau’s kitchen as you take in the sights, sounds and even smells from Remy’s world. Feel like you’ve shrunk down to Chef Remy’s size for a 4D culinary adventure based on the Disney and Pixar film Ratatouille. When you’re small, life is a big adventure!
