Are you ready to feel the Force? Then it’s time for Star Wars Day at Sea! This day happens on select sailings in early 2020 on Disney Cruise Line and features a whole day of Star Wars-themed entertainment, activities, and more. Here are the top 5 things to do on Star Wars Day at Sea!
Special Character Meets
Star Wars Day at Sea offers several special character meets that guests can reserve. We reserved ours ahead of time before our cruise, and we got to meet Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO, and Darth Vader. Each character had their own meet and greet area with a special backdrop for photos. We had a lot of fun interacting with them and got some wonderful photos, and since they were reserved for specific times, we didn’t have to wait very long to meet each character.
Roaming Characters
Many characters were also roaming through the atrium and around the pool deck throughout the day. We spotted Rey and Boba Fett on the pool deck, and also encountered plenty of Stormtroopers interacting with guests. Our favorite was a child, when asked for his “identification” by a Stormtrooper, did a Force wave at him – so of course the Stormtrooper stepped back and said he didn’t need to see any identification. There were also quite a few more characters like Zam Wesell and a Gamorrean guard roaming around.
Star Wars Events & Activities
Many of the activities and entertainment on the ship that day were also Star Wars-themed. We learned how to draw Chewbacca in a drawing class, and also took in a presentation from an artist who creates licensed Star Wars trading card and limited edition print artwork. There were also plenty of opportunities for Star Wars superfans to test their trivia knowledge.
Star Wars Eats & Drinks
That night in the dining room, the dinner menu was entirely Star Wars-themed, and our serving staff were even wearing Star Wars-themed uniforms for the evening! For dessert, we had a Frozen Carbonite Sundae.
Nighttime Spectacular
We ended the night with Summon the Force, a character spectacular on the pool deck with all the Star Wars characters we’d seen throughout the day together on stage. And, like so many great Disney days, it ended with fireworks! The fireworks at sea featured the incredible Star Wars score and was a perfect way to end a fun day.
